As we work towards the vision of accessible bioinformatics, one important issue to address is the compatibility of
tools. It should be easy for researchers to use and publish bioinformatics tools regardless of what programming language
they are written in. Therefore, we are excited to announce that MathWorks has just published
a MATLAB-BioLib toolchain
The toolchain allows researchers to turn their MATLAB scripts into webserver-like tools that can be shared with
colleagues and the wider research community. Like all other applications on BioLib, tools built using the MATLAB-BioLib
toolchain can be run directly from a script or through the browser-based GUI, with all computation happening within a
secure compute environment.
A tutorial on how to turn your MATLAB script into a secure web server can be found
in the docs 📖
The toolchain is built by MathWorks, the organization behind the scientific programming language MATLAB. It is exciting
to collaborate with the MathWorks team on bringing bioinformatics to a wider audience and to now be able to welcome the
MATLAB developer community to BioLib.
We hope you will find it useful and are eager to hear any feedback you might have.
