Introducing the MATLAB-BioLib Toolchain

As we work towards the vision of accessible bioinformatics, one important issue to address is the compatibility of tools. It should be easy for researchers to use and publish bioinformatics tools regardless of what programming language they are written in. Therefore, we are excited to announce that MathWorks has just published a MATLAB-BioLib toolchain ๐Ÿ™Œ

The toolchain allows researchers to turn their MATLAB scripts into webserver-like tools that can be shared with colleagues and the wider research community. Like all other applications on BioLib, tools built using the MATLAB-BioLib toolchain can be run directly from a script or through the browser-based GUI, with all computation happening within a secure compute environment.

  • The toolchain is now freely available here ๐Ÿ”ง
  • You can find the installation guide here ๐Ÿ“
  • A tutorial on how to turn your MATLAB script into a secure web server can be found in the docs ๐Ÿ“–

The toolchain is built by MathWorks, the organization behind the scientific programming language MATLAB. It is exciting to collaborate with the MathWorks team on bringing bioinformatics to a wider audience and to now be able to welcome the MATLAB developer community to BioLib.

We hope you will find it useful and are eager to hear any feedback you might have.

If you have any questions regarding the toolchain, don't hesitate to get in touch through the community Slack channel ๐Ÿ‘‹
